Salary: $60-90K plus bonus

Job Summary of the Environmental Health Safety Specialist:

The Environmental, Health, Safety Specialist position will have the responsibility of supporting the Corporate EPA and Safety Coordinator in the monitoring and maintenance of all programs, processes, and procedures related to safety, health, industrial hygiene, and housekeeping at the Iowa facility. This includes initiating, administering, monitoring, and continuously improving established safety, ergonomic, and health programs. The role also involves ensuring that all employees, supervisors, and managers comply with federal, state, and local guidelines, procedures, and protocols related to the safe and effective operation of equipment, machinery, and tools used in the fabrication, manufacture, coating, and assembly of products at the Iowa Facility. Additionally, the individual in this position will be accountable for coordinating, administering, and monitoring environment, fire safety, and security protocols to comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.

Job Responsibilities of the Environmental Health Safety Specialist:

  • Assist with the continual refinement of all plant safety programs, processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with all governmental agencies, such as federal and state OSHA & NIOSH.
  • Coordinate the periodic monitoring and testing of various work environment issues.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses.
  • Collaborate with the safety team to perform regular safety audits of manufacturing areas.
  • Identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols.
  • Conduct routine safety walks throughout the manufacturing facility to address safety concerns.
  • Promote a safety culture and gather feedback from employees.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety-related incidents and activities.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of safety training programs for manufacturing employees.
  • Act as a liaison between manufacturing staff and safety management.
  • Participate in the development and execution of emergency response procedures.
  • Provide support during emergency situations to ensure personnel safety.
  • Assist the Corporate EPA/Safety Coordinator with assigned tasks related to environmental matters.

Education & Experience of the Environmental Health Safety Specialist:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Safety Management, or a comparable discipline is preferred. Candidates with prior working knowledge of the principal functions of this position will be considered in lieu of a specified degree.
  • Prior experience in related disciplines of safety, health, and environmental.
  • Prior working knowledge of plant safety policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Prior working knowledge of federal, state, and local safety laws and enforcement criteria.
  • Prior working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental laws and enforcement criteria.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes.
