The role of the Factory Director is to oversee all operations within the factory and ensure the production of products in accordance with established standards and values.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Manage the Production, Maintenance, and Warehouse departments to meet customer requirements based on on-site personnel availability and production schedules;
  • Lead health, safety, and quality assurance efforts to create a secure working environment for all employees;
  • Drive the development, implementation, and management of systems, including audits and compliance measures;
  • Enhance factory performance and consistency by developing employees, implementing preventive maintenance, improving processes, and leading capital projects;
  • Manage budgeting and ongoing cost management;
  • Inspire and guide factory employees to reach their full potential, fostering an engaged workforce;
  • Handle all human resources matters, including recruitment, training, coaching, performance management, communication, and recognition;
  • Support ongoing projects and justify capital projects;
  • Efficiently plan production schedules based on orders, on-site staff availability, and production timelines;
  • Achieve production objectives in terms of costs, deadlines, and quality;
  • Supervise work methods, ensuring productivity goals are met and resources are utilized effectively;
  • Identify and resolve work-related issues, recommending process, equipment, or work condition improvements to enhance plant productivity;
  • Implement and assess new production equipment and processes;
  • Establish continuous improvement methods;
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations;
  • Create and maintain a highly motivating work environment;
  • Perform any other tasks required to accomplish the goals of the Factory Director role.


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering;
  • 10-15 years of experience as a Factory Director or substantial operations management responsibilities;
  • Experience in a federally inspected processed food manufacturing facility with HACCP recognition is a plus;
  • Proficiency in continuous improvement principles and problem-solving tools such as PDCA, 5 Whys, SMED, Kaizen, Lean, and Pareto;
  • Effective leadership and strong management skills;
  • Strong coaching, development, and training abilities for production staff;
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to thrive in a progressive and dynamic environment;
  • Proven track record of managing change and increasing productivity;
  • Bilingual in English and French;
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Outlook, knowledge of production management software is advantageous;
  • Experience with SAP is a plus;
  • Available for production support including weekends and evenings.
