Job Title: Automation Engineer

Job Summary: The Automation Engineer is responsible for supporting and advancing plant automation systems. This role involves troubleshooting manufacturing issues, optimizing system performance, and driving data collection and analysis. The Automation Engineer works closely with the engineering and operations teams to provide specifications for plant expansion projects.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative, routine, and emergency maintenance of control and networking systems.
  • Recommend equipment selection and necessary controls.
  • Oversee external controls vendors and ensure work requirements are met.
  • Design, code, test, and debug programs for plant processes.
  • Create user-friendly HMI development using graphics and diagrams.
  • Drive standards to ensure reliability of control systems.
  • Manage and document controls cabinets.
  • Collaborate with IT network engineers to minimize network issues.
  • Ensure appropriate security practices are in place.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory.
  • Maintain licensing and support for controls software and hardware.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in controls engineering in a food, beverage, or dairy processing plant.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs and Logix programming.
  • Experience with HMI development tools such as Factory Talk View and Aveva InTouch.
  • In-depth knowledge of automation technologies and control system design.
  • Strong project management skills.
