Quality Control Bench Inspector

Location: Portland, CT

Pay Range: $24-29/hr

A client in Portland, Connecticut, servicing the aerospace industry is in need of a Quality Control Bench Inspector. The primary responsibility of this position is to uphold quality standards by examining incoming materials, in-process components, and final products. The inspector will ensure adherence to engineering specifications, conduct dimensional inspections, and meticulously record inspection results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect in-process and final products through visual assessments and dimensional measurements to confirm compliance with specifications.
  • Review purchase orders, blueprints, operation sheets, special process certifications, and other specifications to ascertain that parts and materials meet requirements.
  • Conduct intricate dimensional layout inspections using operation sheets and engineering drawings.
  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to assess part conformity.
  • Complete Inspection Method Sheets and maintain precise inspection records.
  • Validate special process certifications against relevant part specifications.
  • Perform first-piece inspections and First Article Inspections (FAIs).
  • Identify and record nonconforming materials or components and relay findings to appropriate personnel.
  • Cooperate with production and quality teams to address inspection concerns and uphold product quality.

Required Qualifications

  • 2–8 years of inspection experience in aerospace or a comparable manufacturing field.
  • Proficient in GD&T, blueprint interpretation, and dimensional inspection.
  • Ability to interpret operation sheets, purchase orders, specifications, and special process certifications.
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments to confirm dimensional requirements.
  • Strong analytical abilities, shop math proficiency, and keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to assess manufacturing methods and procedures for compliance with quality standards.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Capability to maintain comprehensive and accurate inspection documentation.
