Robotic System Installer
Location: Augusta, GA
An established company with a large market share in their manufacturing industry is located in southwest suburban Atlanta and is seeking an Automation/Robotics Technician for their plant environment. This role is available due to growth in robotic installations for the assembly process. The working hours for this day shift position are from 8:00am to 4:30pm with the possibility of up to 10 hours of paid overtime per week paid at time and a half. The benefits package includes an attractive 401K plan with a 100% match up to 5% and a generous performance-based bonus potential. Relocation assistance is also available if needed.
The manufacturing environment includes die casting, stamping, and the assembly process, utilizing Fanuc, ABB, and UR robots, as well as Allen Bradley PLCs. This is a Level III role that requires a minimum of 5 years of experience.
General Summary
The Automation/Robotics Technician will be responsible for participating in cell design, end of arm tooling, and fixture design, as well as the installation of automated equipment. The role combines mechanical, electrical, and facilities support. The technician will assist in configuring, testing, operating, maintaining, servicing, and troubleshooting robots and other automated systems used in production with the primary goal of increasing efficiency and prolonging the lifespan of the equipment.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
(The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except for those that begin with the word "May.")
Level I
- Working with pneumatics and principles of compressed air
- Working with hydraulics and principles of fluid mechanics
- Working with circuits from 120 to 480 volts and other electrical tasks
- Assisting in the construction of robotic equipment
- Testing robotic systems before use
Level II (Includes Level I responsibilities)
- Plumbing tasks such as layout and installation of all types of plumbing systems
- Interpreting isometric drawings
- Electrical tasks including the use of electrical test equipment and troubleshooting
- Installing and programming robotic equipment
- Troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues with robotic equipment
- Performing repairs and replacements of defective components
Level III (Includes Level I & II responsibilities)
- Installing air logic controls
- Troubleshooting hydraulic circuits
- Troubleshooting PLC systems using computers
- Installing, programming, and repairing programmable controllers and robot controllers
- Utilizing knowledge of fabrication equipment for maintenance tasks
- Operating robotics equipment or overseeing their operation
- Analyzing events within the equipment
- Working closely with engineers and production team to achieve desired output
- Conducting preventative maintenance and repairs on robotic machines and systems
- Training others on robot installation, usage, and servicing
Education/Experience
- Level I: High school diploma or GED, or one to two years of related experience
- Level II: High school diploma or GED, two to four years of related experience
- Level III: Technical training certificates or associate degree, six to eight years of related experience
Ability to read and interpret documents, perform basic mathematical calculations, and define problems and collect data is required.
Physical Requirements
The employee must have the ability to use hands, talk, and hear. Frequent standing, walking, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and crawling may be required. The ability to lift up to 50 lbs is necessary.

The work environment may be loud with exposure to extreme heat, high places, outside weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
