Robotics Installation Technician - Carrollton, GA

An established company with a significant market share in its manufacturing industry, located in southwest suburban Atlanta, is seeking an Automation/Robotics Technician. This position is available due to growth in robotic installations for the assembly process. The work shift is from 8:00am to 4:30pm and may include up to 10 hours of paid overtime per week. The company offers a comprehensive benefits package, including an attractive 401K plan with a 100% match up to 5%, as well as a generous bonus potential based on performance. Relocation assistance is also available. The manufacturing environment includes die casting, stamping, and the assembly process, utilizing robots from Fanuc, ABB, and UR, as well as Allen Bradley PLCs. This is a Level III role, requiring at least 5 years of experience.

General Summary

The Automation/Robotics Technician will be responsible for participating in cell design, end-of-arm tooling, and fixture design, as well as the installation of automated equipment in a plant environment. This role involves a combination of mechanical, electrical, and facilities support. The technician's main responsibilities include configuring, testing, operating, maintaining, servicing, and troubleshooting robots and other automated systems used in production in order to increase efficiency and prolong equipment life.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Level I
    • Work with pneumatics and principles of compressed air
    • Work with hydraulics and principles of fluid mechanics
    • Work with circuits from 120 to 480 volts and perform other electrical tasks
    • Assist in the construction of robotic equipment
    • Test robotic systems before use
  • Level II (Includes all Level I responsibilities)
    • Layout and installation of various plumbing systems
    • Perform electrical tasks, including voltage and current readings
    • Install and program robotic equipment
    • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues with robotic equipment
    • Repair robots and peripheral equipment
  • Level III (Includes all Level I & II responsibilities)
    • Install air logic controls
    • Troubleshoot hydraulic circuits
    • Troubleshoot PLC systems using a computer
    • Install, program, or repair controllers and conveyors
    • Utilize all fabrication equipment for maintenance tasks
    • Operate robotics equipment and analyze events within the equipment
    • Collaborate with engineers and production team to achieve desired output
    • Conduct preventative maintenance and repair robotic machines as needed
    • Train others on robot installation, use, and service


  • Level I - High school diploma or equivalent, or one to two years of related experience and/or training
  • Level II - High school diploma or equivalent, two to four years of related experience and/or training
  • Level III - Technical training certificates or associate degree, six to eight years of related experience and/or training

Physical Requirements

The ability to perform the essential job functions is contingent upon certain physical abilities:

  • Use hands to handle objects and operate controls

  • Lift up to 50 lbs

Working Conditions

The work environment is typically loud, with occasional exposure to extreme heat, heights, outside weather conditions, fumes, chemicals, electrical shock, and vibration.
