Position Overview
In this role, you will work in a laboratory environment, focusing on formulation preparation, material characterizations, coating application, and comparative benchmarking. As an Application Development Chemist, you will gain in-depth understanding of our product portfolio, specifically in relation to product performance and capabilities in coating applications. Additionally, you will provide technical service to customers alongside our Sales & Marketing team.

Responsibilities
- Evaluate newly developed resin systems to provide R&D insight and direction
- Significant involvement in project management and new product development processes
- Develop a thorough understanding of our product portfolio, including technology, typical use, market trends, and value propositions
- Assist in the development and organization of technical and environmental data
- Provide technical guidance and support to Sales and Marketing teams
- Represent the organization in forums and conferences within your area of application expertise
Required Skills and Experience
- 10-15 years of formulation/application experience in product development, formulation, and structure-property relationships
- Experience working in a coatings and/or paint laboratory, including milling pigments, formulation preparation, material characterizations, and coating application equipment
- Experience with solvent borne materials
- Preferred experience with polymers and automotive coatings
- Understanding of laboratory and equipment safety protocols
- Proficiency in experimental planning and data analysis
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a scientific field, preferably chemistry
- Availability to travel domestically (10-15%)

- Requires both indoor and outdoor work, with exposure to weather conditions
