Senior Supplier Quality Engineer

Our company, a well-established and rapidly growing brand name in the manufacturing industry, is located on the south side of the Atlanta metro area and is known for its strong work culture. We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team. This role will be responsible for overseeing the production process and part qualification of our suppliers, with a focus on Lean Manufacturing, maintaining a defect-free environment, and preventing re-occurrence of quality issues. Additionally, this position will involve approving and developing new suppliers and new technologies. Responsibilities:

  • Act as a technical liaison between purchasing, engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers to resolve quality issues
  • Implement and monitor advanced quality planning with selected future product suppliers
  • Ensure suppliers understand product and submission requirements
  • Review and approve supplier quality plans for new part programs
  • Assess supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems
  • Implement and monitor the part qualification and certification process with selected suppliers
  • Provide training in Lean Manufacturing and support Kaizen activities
  • Analyze root causes of supplier quality problems and coordinate timely resolutions
  • Improve the quality performance of assigned suppliers
  • Maintain necessary documentation and files
  • May participate in determining part critical characteristics and required process controls
  • May review tool, fixture, and part design
  • May serve as a member or resource to product development teams

There will be up to 30% travel required for this role, potentially up to a week at a time with short notice.

Qualifications:

Education / Experience:

A four-year degree or equivalent experience in the automotive or manufacturing industry is required. Candidates with a degree should have at least 2 years of related experience, while candidates without a degree should have at least 8-10 years of related experience. Experience in supplier quality engineering is necessary, with advanced experience in new product engineering and process changes preferred.
