SUMMARY
Responsible for overseeing financial reporting and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures for accurate and timely financial statements. The Finance Manager supervises accounts payable/receivable, credit/collections, invoicing, and the team to ensure timely and accurate completion of work. This role involves a variety of accounting activities, including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation, and budget and forecast support. The Finance Manager also communicates with senior-level Executives and the Controller, thus requiring strong interpersonal and communication skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
  • Supervise daily payroll operations and ensure compliance with company policies and laws.
  • Fill in for the payroll clerk when needed.
  • Supervise accounts payable operations, including electronic payment submissions.
  • Supervise accounts receivable operations and balance deposits.
  • Analyze delinquent accounts as credit manager, provide resolution recommendations, and maintain professional client and attorney relationships.
  • Ensure accurate and timely quarterly and year-end close.
  • Report monthly/quarterly financial information in a timely manner.
  • Ensure timely filing of state related taxes and other required reports.
  • Assist the Controller/Treasurer with daily banking requirements.
  • Process positive pay transactions accurately and on time.
  • Support budget and forecasting activities.
  • Collaborate with other finance department managers to achieve department goals.
  • Analyze department work to optimize procedures and resource utilization while maintaining accuracy.
  • Respond to inquiries from VP of Finance, Controller, and other managers regarding financial results.
  • Assist in clean and timely yearend audit.
  • Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met by supervising the general ledger group.
  • Implement new features and procedures to enhance department workflow.
  • Provide training to new and existing staff as necessary.
  • Handle personnel issues and monitor staff performance and development.
  • Support Controller/Treasurer with special projects and workflow process improvements.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises two Accounts Payable Clerks, the Payroll Specialist, and two Collections employees.

Education and/or Experience

Minimum of a BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting, plus at least two to four years of experience in Public Accounting.
