Ophthalmology Medical Director

Compensation: $350,000 - $450,000 per year

Job Type: Full-Time | Call Schedule of 1:4 (Minimal call burden)

We are in close partnership with an acclaimed, independent community hospital in Vermont in search of a dynamic and forward-thinking Ophthalmology Medical Director. This role offers a prime opportunity to lead and contribute in a thriving, collaborative practice environment within the hospital. You will oversee a high-volume team comprising of an additional ophthalmologist, skilled optometrist, and a devoted support staff of Certified Ophthalmic Assistants (COAs).

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the Medical Director for the Ophthalmology practice, setting clinical protocols, spearheading quality initiatives, and promoting a cohesive team atmosphere.
• Enhance efficiency within assigned OR blocks in a cutting-edge procedure center equipped with modern technology for high-volume surgeries.
• Manage a busy patient panel, delivering superior medical and surgical ophthalmic care to the local community across central and southern Vermont.
• Participate in a 1:4 call rotation designed to ensure a healthy work-life balance with minimal call burden.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of an accredited Ophthalmology Residency program.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
• Active, unrestricted medical license in Vermont (or eligibility to obtain).
• Demonstrated clinical excellence, effective communication skills, and a passion for clinical leadership.
